Balboa Park Botanical Building and Grounds Restoration and Enhancement

The project aims to expand the visitor experience. This is achieved by leveraging the seasonality of plants, highlighting spectacle displays, and creating places and infrastructure for events, exhibits and showmanship such as hosting curated displays by local plant societies, visiting garden designers or artists that might be uniquely connected to the Botanical Building or larger Park-wide exhibits or events. Improving accessibility to areas for displays, seating, gathering, special events and programs will allow visitors to more easily and comfortably access and enjoy the gardens. Providing improved infrastructure including Wi-Fi and interior and exterior lighting for expanded/ extended use will encourage more people to visit and enjoy the gardens for a longer period of time. This project is currently in the first phase of design intended to raise funds for further design and construction.
